“As we kick off National Distracted Driver Awareness Month, it’s imperative that we all recognize the crucial role we play in promoting safe driving practices and protecting lives on our roadways,” said Colonel Melissa Zebley, Superintendent of the Delaware State Police. “Every year, we witness the tragic loss of thousands of lives in motor vehicle crashes across the country, leaving families and communities shattered by grief. Our mission remains clear: to save lives and prevent tragedies every day. During the “Drive to Save Lives” campaign, our dedicated troopers will be enforcing laws and raising awareness about the dangers of distracted driving. Let’s commit to keeping our roads safe for everyone. Remember, even a moment of distraction can result in catastrophic outcomes. Let us make every moment count by driving safely, staying focused, and ultimately, saving lives.”

“The Delaware Office of Highway Safety fully supports the Delaware State Police’s “Drive to Save Lives” initiative. April is also recognized as Distracted Driving Awareness Month, and we want to encourage everyone to put their phones away and focus on the road,” said Sharon Bryson, Director of the Delaware Office of Highway Safety. “Regardless of your mode of transportation, never drive, ride, or walk distracted. We must all strive to make the roads safer to ensure that we can all Arrive Alive. Distracted driving is a dangerous behavior that can have life-altering consequences. Don’t risk your life or the lives of those around you. Remember to buckle up on every trip, every time, follow posted speed limits, always drive sober, and be alert.”

Delaware’s Office of Highway Safety has continued supporting the “Drive to Save Lives” annual campaign. Residents and visitors alike can expect to see multiple agencies working diligently to keep them safe as they travel throughout our great state.
