Troopers charged Dylan Charles, 19, and Quincey Thomas, 22, both of Wilmington, after a reported home-invasion robbery
FELTON, Del. — Delaware State Police have arrested two Wilmington men in connection with a home-invasion robbery and vehicle pursuit in Kent County on Tuesday and are still searching for a third suspect.
Troopers charged Dylan Charles, 19, and Quincey Thomas, 22, both of Wilmington, after a reported home-invasion robbery about 1 p.m. Nov. 11 in the 100 block of East Chimney Top Lane in Felton, police said. A third unidentified man, described by police as Black, remains at large.
According to state police, a woman answered the door of the home for Charles and Thomas, whom she knew as friends of a 17-year-old male resident. Once inside, Charles and Thomas confronted the teenager, demanded money and threatened him with a handgun, police said.
The woman heard the commotion, retrieved a rifle and confronted the suspects, according to police. The men then took the rifle, pointed it at her and demanded money.
Two children were in the house during the incident. Police said one child barricaded themself in a bedroom while the other ran to a neighbor’s home for help. The 17-year-old and the two children were not injured. The woman suffered a minor injury, police said.
Charles and Thomas then fled the residence with firearms and cash in a white Infiniti QX5, according to police.
Troopers soon spotted the Infiniti on Route 12 and attempted a traffic stop, but the SUV sped away, police said. During the pursuit, which continued onto several Kent County roads and Route 1, the Infiniti — driven by Thomas — was operated in a reckless manner, and troopers saw firearms being thrown from the vehicle along Route 1, according to police. The guns were later recovered.
The pursuit ended on Route 1 near North Little Creek Road after troopers deployed stop sticks. Police said the Infiniti struck the center median cable barrier and then a guardrail on the shoulder before coming to a stop.
Charles, Thomas and a third unknown man ran from the SUV, police said. Troopers took Charles and Thomas into custody, but the third suspect was not found. Detectives are continuing efforts to identify and locate him.
A search of the Infiniti turned up the victim’s rifle and a handgun with no serial number, which police say was used during the robbery. Troopers also recovered approximately 1,595.9 grams of marijuana from the vehicle.
Charles was taken to Troop 3, where he was charged with:
