WILMINGTON — The Wilmington Partners in Care Program, a collaborative initiative between the Wilmington Police Department and ChristianaCare that pairs trained mental health clinicians with police officers for joint response and community outreach, has released its latest progress report detailing activities and impact from January 1 through March 31, 2025.

Launched in March 2024, the program currently includes a case manager and two clinicians. In the first quarter of 2025, the team provided services to 204 individuals, comprising 115 new clients and 89 returning clients. Since its inception, the program has served a total of 430 individuals in Wilmington. ​

Services provided include mental health crisis intervention, de-escalation, referrals to treatment, social service providers, emergency shelters, and collaboration with police departments’ victim services and youth response units.

Wilmington officials are highlighting the program’s growing impact on the community, with new data showing how the innovative partnership is helping residents across the city.

We appreciate the dedication of this team, and our partnership with ChristianaCare, and look forward to seeing this program continue to support residents in each of our neighborhoods.”

The progress report includes data from recent operations and details the types of support provided by the clinicians and case manager. The program intends to continue issuing quarterly progress reports as it advances its work within the community. ​
