Ronald Suber, 32, will spend life in prison after being convicted of murdering Anna Hurst.
A 32-year-old man from Dover has been sentenced to life plus 70 years in prison for Murder 1st Degree, Attempted Murder 1st Degree, two counts of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Tampering with a Witness, and Conspiracy 2nd Degree.
Ronald Suber was given the sentence in the Kent County Superior Court following an investigation into the murder of Anna Hurst and attempted murder of Brian May.
Suber, his girlfriend, Tori Balfour, Anna Hurst and Brian May together ran a catalytic converter theft ring.
Suber believed that Anna Hurst had provided the police with incriminating information about the ring.
On Aug. 20, 2021 Suber and Balfour picked up Hurst and May, and as they drove the pair to a cornfield alongside Dyke Branch Road, they confronted Hurst about being a “narc.’
Suber pulled out a gun and shot Hurst in the hand and chest as she attempted to back away.
He also opened fire on May, who was struck in the foot as he escaped into the cornfield. Suber then returned to Hurst and beat her to death with a tire iron.
“This was a just result for an extremely violent offender,” said Attorney General Kathy Jennings. “I am grateful to our team and the Delaware State Police for holding him accountable.”
