Detectives Arrest Man for Early Morning Robbery

On Tuesday, the Delaware State Police arrested 34-year-old Andrew Maccord of Millsboro, Delaware for robbing a Wawa in Millsboro early Saturday morning.

On August 19, 2023, at approximately 3:05 a.m., troopers responded to the Wawa located at 24930 John J. Williams Highway for a robbery that had just occurred. Troopers spoke with the cashier and learned that the suspect, later identified as Andrew Maccord, went into the store wearing a sweatshirt, mask, and gloves to buy a cigar. When the cashier opened the register drawer, the suspect tried to steal the entire cash drawer. The suspect pried the cashier’s hands off the drawer and stole an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the scene. The cashier was not injured.

Detectives identified Maccord as the suspect through video surveillance. On August 22, detectives found Maccord at his apartment and he was taken into custody without incident.

Maccord was taken to Troop 4 and charged with the following crimes:

  • Robbery Second Degree (Felony)
  • Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)

Maccord was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on $4,000 unsecured bond.
