Miss 'Macbeth' 'cause Of Messy Weather? Here's 1 More Chance

Delaware Shakespeare will add an extra performance of ‘Macbeth’ because rain forced so many cancellations.

Like ‘MacBeth’ doesn’t have enough problems to deal with — witches, an overly ambitious wife, forests that move — it also was clobbered with evening storms during its production at Rockford Museum in recent weeks.

Because of so many rainouts, Delaware Shakespeare has added an extra production of “Macbeth” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, before its run ends Aug. 6.

“We had several rain cancelations this past week, so we hope this will allow audiences another option as they reschedule,” said David Stradley, executive director of the production.

The summer performance, which allows playgoers to picnic on the grounds behind the Rockford mansion while it’s going on, is a cultural touchstone each season.

And it’s has a hilarious tagline, a quote from the play, in the emails it’s sending out:

“When shall we three meet again
In thunder, lightning, or in rain?”

Temperatures and weather forecasts seem to have improved from last week, DelShakes points out.

Rockwood Park is at 4651 Washington Street Extension in Wilmington. Tickets range from $20-$25 with regularly scheduled shows Thursdays through Sundays, July 26-Aug. 6. Wednesdays are Pay What You Can with a variety of price points available starting at $5.

A limited number of pre-placed lawn chairs are available in reserved locations on a nightly basis, with a $45 Saved Seat ticket.
