Wilmington Police seek public’s help in 2017 cold case

WILMINGTON- The Wilmington Police Department’s Cold Case Unit is requesting assistance from the public in connection with the 2017 murder of Andrew Pennewell.

On November 19, 2017, officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 1200 block of West 3rd Street around 7:23 p.m. Upon arrival, police found 25-year-old Pennewell suffering from gunshot wounds. He later died from his injuries.

The case remains under investigation, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward. The Cold Case Unit, part of the department’s Criminal Investigations Division, handles cases that have remained unsolved for over a year after all original leads have been exhausted. Investigators continue to pursue new developments to bring justice to victims and their families.
