WILMINGTON- The Wilmington Police Department has announced the next installment of its ongoing Coffee with a Cop series, set to take place on Wednesday, April 2, at Bernie’s Espresso, located inside the Riverfront Market.

Officers will be available from 9 to 11 a.m. to engage with community members over coffee.

The event provides an informal setting for residents to meet and interact with local officers, ask questions, and discuss community concerns. Attendees will also have the opportunity to pick up public safety materials and promotional giveaways.

coffeecop“Our monthly Coffee with a Cop events are great opportunities for residents to engage with our police officers. We look forward to these opportunities for informal discussions, and for our officers to share information about resources, answer questions and get to know members of our community,”  Wilmington Police communications director David Karas, wrote in a statement.

The Coffee with a Cop initiative has been a regular monthly event since early 2023, following Wilmington Police’s participation in National Coffee with a Cop Day in October 2022. Each month, the department hosts the event at different coffee shops across the city in an effort to foster stronger relationships between law enforcement and the community.

“We encourage members of the community to join us for our monthly Coffee with a Cop event, as well as our monthly Community Resource Fair – during which we bring together upwards of 30-40 social service, public health and community support partners to help connect our residents with critical resources and support.”
