WILMINGTON—As Earth Day 2025 approaches, Delaware is gearing up for a week of events dedicated to honoring our planet and promoting environmental awareness.
Governor Carney’s Earth & Arbor Day Celebration
The City of Wilmington will kick off the festivities with the Earth & Arbor Day Celebration hosted by Governor John Carney on Thursday, April 17, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cool Spring Reservoir’s upper level (11th & Franklin Streets). This free event, organized by the Department of Public Works, brings together community schools, local partners, vendors, and live music by DJ Tim Dogg under the unifying theme, “Our Power, Our Planet.” Attendees can enjoy interactive exhibits and learn about sustainability while connecting with fellow eco-minded residents.
Party for the Planet at the Brandywine Zoo
On Saturday, April 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Brandywine Zoo will host its annual Party for the Planet, part of a nationwide celebration led by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). Visitors can take part in special Earth Day-themed activities, attend educational keeper talks, and enjoy the festive zoo atmosphere.
Earth Day adventure for the little ones at the Delaware Museum of Nature & Science
Young children and their families are invited to the Wee-Kids Weekend Workshop: Earth Day Adventure at the Delaware Museum of Nature & Science on Saturday, April 19 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The program is tailored for ages 3–6 and includes engaging activities that teach kids about protecting the planet in a fun and playful way.

Earth Day is all month at Delaware State Parks
Beyond these Wilmington-based events, Delaware State Parks are celebrating Earth Day throughout the entire month of April with a variety of public programs. Most are free with park admission, and some may require advance registration. Activities range from guided hikes to educational talks focused on nature, wildlife, and conservation.
