AAA singled out a fourth grader at Anna P. Mote Elementary School in Wilmington as an Outstanding School Safety Patroller for the 2023-2024 school year.
Pedro Valle-Rodriguez was honored with the award during an end-of-year recognition ceremony.
Pedro’s teachers describe him as someone who leads by example. The 4th grader was praised for his maturity and dependability and for taking his duties and her post seriously.
He was also willing to help out wherever needed, even when it was something outside of AAA school safety patrol duties.
On top of being a top notch safety patroller, Pedro also has excellent grades and takes part in many other school activities, such as a boys running program where he participates with the same energy and focus that he demonstrates when performing his patrol responsibilities.
Pedro was presented his award by AAA Manager of Public and Government Affairs Jana Tidwell, who wished him well as he heads to middle school.
“We are so happy to support these programs at schools across Delaware,” says AAA Mid-Atlantic spokesperson Jana Tidwell.
“We give these young people the training to help make their school safer and we’re always so impressed to see how innovative they can be when it comes to implementing changes and improvements at their schools.”

The AAA model has been adopted in at least 30 other countries, including England, France, Germany, the Netherlands and New Zealand.
