WILMINGTON — Top-ranked Ursuline Girls Basketball got its season off to a great start with a win over host and fourth-ranked St. Elizabeth by a 49-34 score.

These two teams know each other very well. Some even used to be teammates, including Skylar Boldin, who transferred to St. E from Ursuline after the Raiders won it all, receiving her state championship ring before the game.

Ursuline is still led by last season’s Player of the Year Jazelle “GG” Banks, who is the only remaining starter from last season’s state championship team. Our Player of the Game was Jasmine Butler, a transfer from West Catholic who had 12 points to lead the Raiders to victory.

Both teams are title contenders and are expected to make deep runs in this year’s playoffs. It was an early-season Top-5 matchup that was worth the price of admission.
