WILMINGTON – The Sunday Breakfast Mission distributed more than 1,100 food boxes on the Monday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving and then fed more than 600 people at its annual Great Thanksgiving Banquet, said Church and Community Relations Manager Bruce Davison.
The Sunday Breakfast Mission has provided shelter, meals, and other programs to members of the community, including the homes, for more than 125 years. Its food-box distribution program is supported by individuals, church groups, community groups, and businesses. Davison said “scores” of volunteers came to build the food boxes and nearly 100 other volunteers helped distribute the boxes.
Thanksgiving Day saw about 600 people attend the traditional Great Thanksgiving Banquet. About 250 volunteers arrived early or stayed late to help set up, serve, and clean up.
“It was a great day sharing with the community,” Davison said
