With Memorial Day marking the traditional start of summer, it’s time to think about the outdoor concerts and related activities planned around the state, with some of the fun stretching into fall. Many are free. Here’s a list.

Bellevue State Park concerts

Time to dust off your lawn chairs,” Bellevue State Park park said on Facebook in announcing its summer concert series. “Can’t wait to share some delicious food and toe-tapping tunes.”

Most concerts are 6:30 p.m. Sundays and Thursdays at Brandywine Hundred park and are included in park admission. Fans able to walk or bicycle into the park can hear the concerts for free.

Here’s the lineup:

June 4: Diamond State Concert Band.

June 11: Jeff Zimmerman Band, country

June 15: Singer-songwriter John Flynn.

June 18: De Tierra Caliente, Latin.

June 22: Flatland Drive, bluegrass.

June 15: The Launch, tribute to Queen, Styx and Boston.

July 2: Basic Cable, tribute to the Golden Age of TV

Featured food trucks include Cajun Sno, Copperfield Kettle Corn, Donut NV, Gotta Lotta Gelata, Koi on the Go, Mitch’s Chicken, the Polish Connection, Sweet Josephine’s, Turbo Mexico Cuisine and Uncle John’s.

Bethany Beach concerts and other activities

Bethany Beach has announced free activities than run from June through October, including bonfires, concerts and movies. All events are weather-dependent and subject to beach conditions.

Bonfires

Bonfires will take place 6-8 p.m. Fridays in October on the beach off Campbell Place. Marshmallows, roasting sticks and glow bracelets will be provided while supplies last.

Concerts

Bandstand performances take place on Thursday nights in the summer – with extra evenings in July – and Saturday and Sunday nights in September and October. Summer concerts typically begin at 7:30 p.m. Fall concerts begin at 6:30 p.m.

Summer Wednesdays will feature Kids Nights in July and the occasional rain date.

The lineup for the 61st season of summer concerts at the Rehoboth Beach Bandstand includes 42 nights of free entertainment.

Concerts usually run from 8 to 9:15 p.m. every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Exceptions include two sets from the Funsters on July 2, a bonus Delaware National Guard 287th concert on July 4 and no concert on Sept. 3, when the season is winding down.

White Clay Creek State Park concerts

Summer concerts begin June 14 at White Clay Creek State Park and run through Sept. 4

They run 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays – except for the closing concert, on Labor Day – at the Carpenter Recreation Area, 880 New London Road, Newark.

Park entrance fees are in effect for every concert.

Wilmington State Parks will host free concerts twice a week this summer.

The concerts are 6:30 p.m. Mondays at Rockford Tower in Rockford Park and 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays at the Sugar Bowl in Brandywine Park, south of the Brandywine Zoo.
