The 2023 Spring Delaware State Police Citizens Police Academy will begin on Wednesday, March 29, 2023. The academy will consist of nine Wednesday night sessions, each running from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Most of the classes will take place at Delaware State Police Troop 7, located at 19444 Mulberry Knoll Road in Lewes and the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center, located at 21911 Rudder Lane in Georgetown.
Participants will learn about a wide array of interesting police activities consistent with what the Delaware State Police experience today. The Academy includes, but is not limited to, classroom instruction on evidence processing, criminal and traffic investigations, tours of DSP facilities, familiarization with special units, and other topics. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to ride with patrol troopers.
Class size will be limited to 25 participants and background checks will be conducted on all applicants.
Applications can be submitted online through the Citizens Police Academy website from now until March 15, 2023.
