The boys’ lacrosse season heats up this week and we are hoping the weather is nice as it was on Sunday,  The season has reached its halfway point.

 

The No. 1 team Sallies has already p;ayed two thirds of its schedule and will take a 9-0 record into its final third of the season.  In those 6 games the Sals will face 4 nationally ranked teams and its biggest in state Lax rival Cape Henlopen.  They have Radnor (PA), Malvern Prep (PA), Lawrenceville (NJ), IMG Academy (FL), and Upper Arlington (OH).  The Sals are ranked 15th in the nation in the latest USL rankings.

 

The No. 4 Quakers saw another milestone this week as senior Nick Winchell scored his 100th goal in a 16-4 win over Wilmington Christian.  He scored 5 goals in that win.  Then he scored 7 goals and had 2 assist in their 14-2 win over Tower Hill.  He has 20 goals in 5 games this season as the Quakers are 5-0.

No. 1 Sallies (9-0)(LW No. 1)  The Sals won two games last week beating No. 3 Archmere 14-4 and Cherokee (NJ).  They host Radnor (PA) on Saturday in a match up of nationally ranked teams.

 

No. 2 Cape Henlopen (4-2)(LW No. 2)  The Vikings went 2-1 last week after defeating  to Sts Peter & Paul (MD) and Sussex Central.  They will fell to Hill School (PA) 17-16.  They travel to No. 5 Caesar Rodney on Tuesday and host Dover on Friday.

 

No. 3 Archmere (2-4)(LW  No. 3) The Auks went 1-1 last week with a conference win over FSMA and a tough 14-4 loss at No. 1 Sallies.  They travel to Conrad on Tuesday and host No. 7 Appoquinimink on Thursday.

 

No. 4 Friends (5-0)(LW No. 4)  The Quakers defeated conference rival Tower Hill and Wilmington Christian last week.  They travel to Sanford on Tuesday.  

 

No. 5 Caesar Rodney (5-1)(LW No. 5)  The Riders defeated  Polytech ;ast week.  They host No. 2 Cape Henlopen on Tuesday and Sussex Central on Friday.  

 

No. 6 Tatnall (4-3)(LW No. 7) The Hornets went 3-0 last week with wins over Tower Hill, St Andrew’s and No. 9 Saint Mark’s.  They host Sanford on Thursday.

 

No. 7 Appoquinimink (5-0)(LW No. 8) The Jags remained unbeaten with wins over Mckean and AI DuPont.  They travel to No. 9 Saint Mark’s on Tuesday and No. 3 Archmere on Thursday.

 

No. 8 Smyrna (6-0)(LW Intank) The Eagles defeated Dover and St Andrew’s last week and remain undefeated on the season.  They travel to Sussex Central on Wednesday night and host Sussex Tech on Friday.

 

No. 9 Saint Mark’s (5-1)(LW No. 9)  The Spartans went 1-1 last week with a win over Mount Pleasant before falling to No. 7 Tatnall.  They host No. 7 Appoquimink on Tuesday and then travel to DMA on Saturday.

No. 10 Caravel (6-0)(LW Unrank)) The Bucs made the top 10 this week with a pair of wins last week over Concord, and Wilmington Cristian.  They travel to Oxford (PA) on Monday and they host Indian River on Thursday.
