New Castle County Executive Marcus Henry said his administration will continue cooperating fully with auditors and legislators as they examine the controversial property reassessment process.
“New Castle County residents have made clear they want a thorough review of the reassessment process, and our office has supported that effort from the moment the original request was made by two County Council Members in a press release on July 30, 2025,” Henry said in a statement.
Auditor’s review underway
Henry noted that County Auditor Robert Wasserbach and his staff are already reviewing materials related to the mass appraisal conducted by Tyler Technologies, the firm hired to handle the first countywide reassessment in decades.

“My team has provided, and will continue to provide, all information his office needs to complete their work efficiently,” Henry said.
Residents across the county have raised concerns about sharp increases in their property valuations and the fairness of Tyler’s methodology. At recent council meetings, many urged leaders to put additional checks on the reassessment process, sparking calls for both county and state-level reviews.
Cooperation with state committees
In his statement, Henry emphasized that his administration will also work with the General Assembly’s newly formed special committees, which are preparing to look into reassessments statewide.
“In a similar vein, we will be providing any requested information to the General Assembly’s newly formed Special Committees that will be examining this matter statewide, continuing the open dialogue I’ve had with state legislators since I took office,” he said.

Henry added that questions about the scope of the County Auditor’s work should be directed to that office, which operates independently.
Commitment to residents
“This process is complex, but my commitment is simple: to be transparent, responsive, and focused on real solutions for the people of New Castle County,” Henry said.
The statement comes as councilmembers continue to press for answers, with some exploring legislative remedies and others urging more aggressive oversight of Tyler Technologies.
