New Castle County Police are seeking additional victims of a headstone scam.
A Pennsylvania man has been charged with two counts of felony theft for duping grieving people out of money they gave him to create a headstone for loved ones.
New Castle County Police are seeking him — and any other victims who may have been scammed by him, because they suspect there are more than they know.
Gregory Stefan
Gregory Stefan, 54, is said to have reached out to victims who had recently lost someone. He would meet them at a cemetery to design a headstone, police said.
He would create what appeared to be a formal contract, collect payment and later send a letter to the bereaved saying his business had gone bankrupt anad he coudn’t uphold the contract.
Multiple victims who live in Pennsylvania and New Jersey have since said the same thing happened to them.
Police believe there may be more victims in New Castle County and would like them to come forward.

Stefan, who is wanted for his outstanding warrant, was charged with one felony count of theft $1,500 or greater and one felony count of theft by false pretenses.
