WILMINGTON- The Delaware Office of Supplier Diversity (OSD) has launched a new online portal aimed at streamlining the certification process for diverse and small businesses, seeking to improve accessibility and efficiency for business owners seeking official certification.

OSD, operating under the Delaware Division of Small Business (DSB), is responsible for enhancing economic opportunities for diverse and small businesses through certifications, advocacy, training, and support services.

The newly launched portal, accessible at de.gov/osd, replaced the previous paper-based application process, allowing for a more seamless and data-driven approach to certification.

“A big emphasis for our team is creating a more user-friendly experience when interacting with government. The launch of this new online portal addresses that head on,” said DSB Director CJ Bell.

“I really want to commend Director White for leading this effort and look forward to identifying additional ways to service small businesses throughout our state,” he said.

The system will also enhance data collection, providing improved accuracy in tracking certified vendors.

According to OSD Director Shavonne White, the portal is a direct response to long-standing feedback from small business owners.

“I’ve heard from small business owners for years that they wish our application process was automated, and now I’m thrilled to let them know we heard them and to be able to give them this tool. We should be exploring any opportunity that can make it easier for businesses to become certified and advance their opportunities to obtain contracts with the state,” White said.

OSD offers two types of certifications, the Diverse Business Certification and the Small Business Focus Certification. The Diverse Business Certification applies to businesses owned by minorities, women, veterans, service-disabled veterans, and individuals with disabilities. The Small Business Focus Certification is designated for small businesses that meet specific size criteria.

These certifications provide businesses with increased visibility among state agencies and potential clients, strengthening their competitive edge in securing contracts.
