The Wilmington VA Medical Center has opened a new, more spacious Dover Veterans Clinic that will allow more vets to be treated at once and expand the services they are offered.

The clinic at Blue Hen Corporate Center, across the street from the Dover Buffalo Wild Wings, will be triple the size of the old offices on Governors Avenue, rising to 29,000 square feet from 9,000.

This extra space offers the VA the opportunity to expand their scope of service in areas such as primary care, behavioral health, specialty services and telehealth.

It will have 18 primary care rooms, 12 mental health rooms, five specialty rooms and three women’s health rooms, as well as optometry rooms, procedure rooms, an audiology suite and a phlebotomy laboratory.

“We are extremely proud to be moving into this new clinic and expanding on the health care services we provide to veterans in central and southern Delaware,” said Vince Kane, director of the Wilmington VAMC, in a press release. “It is our mission to provide exceptional health care by putting veterans first in everything we do. This clinic is a testament to our investment and commitment to provide more care and services to Veterans closer to their home.”

Each Veteran’s care team will remain the same for the new VA clinic, making a smooth transition of care between the two buildings.

Veterans can call to schedule appointment at the new VA clinic at 1-800-461-8262 after pressing option 2 or by visiting this website.

To ensure the safety of staff and patients, the VA asks that veterans contact their care team before making unscheduled visits to the clinic.
