The number of new COVID-19 cases in Delaware dropped by more than 10% in the last week.

Even so, 24 new deaths were recorded, including seven from a review of vital statistic records, according to the Delaware Division of Public Health.

Delaware has seen 139,380 COVID-19 cases as of Thursday night. New cases were down to 391.6 cases from 445.7 the week before. Hospitalizations also decreased 27 to 207, with 30 critically ill.

The seven-day average of the total positive cases rose to 8.2% from 7.8%.

The Centers for Disease Control said 78.5% of Delawareans 12+ have received at least one dose of vaccine, and 80.2% of Delawareans 18+ have received at least one dose of vaccine.

The number of those fully vaccinated was unclear because of technical error that added booster doses to the category.

Breakthrough cases now total right at 1% of those vaccinated. Of the 4,683 breakthrough cases, 85 have required hospitalization and 59 have died.

Delta variant continues to dominate the samples randomly chosen for testing.
