The massive project to rebuild Delaware’s busiest interchange – Route 141 and Interstate 95 – is calling for lane closures and an exit closure this week.

These lane closures on Route 141 northbound and southbound and the closure of Exit 5A are needed to decrease the severity of the bumps on the roadway, according to the Delaware Department of Transportation. Here’s the schedule:

Wednesday, 12:01 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.: Route 141 northbound, right lane closed between Exit 3A to Exit 4.

Wednesday, 2:30-4 p.m.: Route 141 northbound, left lane closed between Exit 3A and Exit 4.

All lanes will be open to traffic at 4 p.m. Wednesday through 9 a.m. Thursday.

Thursday, 9-11 a.m.: Route 141 southbound, left lane closed between Exit 3B and Exit 3A.

Thursday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Route 141 southbound, right lane closed between Exit 3B and Exit 3A. Exit 5A/I-95 southbound to Route 141 southbound, closed.

All lanes and Exit 5A will be open to traffic at 2 p.m. Thursday.

Detour signage will be posted. Motorists on I-95 southbound will take the ramp to Route 141 northbound and take the ramp to Route 4. Motorists will continue straight onto Marshall Street and turn left onto westbound Route 4/Justis Street and turn left onto James Street. They will then turn left onto eastbound Route 4/Market Street and take the ramp to Route 141 southbound.
