Fifer Orchards features a Scooby Doo corn maze with photo opp that lets visitors pretend to be characters.
Along with cooler weather — at last — fall is crammed with so many festivities they could drive you mad if you tried to hit them all.
Here’s a short list of some favorites:
Farm & Harvest
Fifer Orchards: Hayrides, pumpkins, and … Scooby Doo corn mazes? That’s right! Fifer Orchards, at 1919 Allabands Mill Road in Camden-Wyoming, — is featuring a Scooby Doo inspired corn maze this year along with their usual Fun Park and pumpkin patch. Open through October. Admission to pumpkin patch is $1.95 per person. Fun Park and the Scooby Doo maze admissions are $7.95 per person weekdays, $8.95 Saturdays. Opens at 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. daily.
Milburn Orchards: Kids can run free at Milburn Orchards at 1495 Appleton Road, Elkton, Maryland. The site has its own corn maze, hayrides, Bail Trail, FarmYard playground, Giant Sand Dig and Boo Barn and that’s not even half the attractions. An array of cute farm animals wait to greet Milburn’s guests. Ticket sales online only this year with a 33% discount every Friday. General admission with a fee is $8.99 per person. Senior ages 60+ receive 25% off. Open Fridays-Saturday in October from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and in November from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Wicked R. Western Productions: Harvest and Halloween events galore can be found at Wicked R. Western Productions at 2621 Sandy Bend Road in Camden-Wyoming. “ With a family-friendly festival during the day and a haunted trail at night, there is something to do for everyone,” says Delaware resident Amanda French. She has been visiting W.R.W.P. since she moved to Delaware with her family 5+ years ago. Adult admission is free. Children’s is $10 per child. Family Fun Fest opens from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday in October. Wicked Woods events on Fridays and Saturdays in October from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. For more information, go here.
Coverdale Farm Preserve: Find scenic hayrides at the Coverdale Farm Preserve at 543 Way Road, Greenville, on the weekends from Oct. 8 through Nov. 14. Hours of operations range from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday.
Frightland near Middletown will remain open through Oct. 31.
Halloween
Tram-and-Treat at Winterthur: Dress your little goblins in their costumes for daytime trick-or-treating in the garden on Saturday, Oct. 30. Ride a special tram with stops along the way for candy and crafts. Music by Silly Joe from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Enchanted Woods and by the Newark Ukesters on the Visitor Center Patio from noon to 2 p.m. Included with admission. Free for member of Winterthur and Delaware Museum of Natural History. Reservations highly encouraged. Tram space available on first come, first served basis. Bring your own candy bag. Treats available while supplies last.
Boo at the Zoos: Three Palms Zoo and Education Center in Townsend and the Brandywine Zoo in Wilmington are both putting on “Boo at the Zoo” specials. Three Palms, at 1060 Vandyke Greenspring Road in Townsend, offers a spooktacular night from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. every Friday and Saturday through October. Admission is $5 per person with additional $2 per person for a hayride. Brandywine Zoo, at 1001 N. Park Drive in Wilmington, will have its event Oct. 22-24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. $7 per person admission for nonmembers.
Enchanted Meadow Trick or Treat: A weekend of fun, tricks and treats for the family at the Enchanted Meadow Trick or Treat weekend at Brandywine State Creek Park, 41 Adams Dam Road, Wilmington, Oct. 22-24. Time slots fill quickly. They start at 6 p.m. and end at 8 p.m. Tickets must be bought online up to 48 hours prior to the event. After that, tickets must be purchased by calling 302-655-3534. Tickets are $6 per person. Get tickets here.
Frightland: When the sun goes down, the ghouls at Frightland, 309 Port Penn Road, Middletown, are just getting ready for their fun. With ghostly horrors, terrorizing screams and freakish figures, Frightland was named a Top 10 Scariest Haunted attraction in the country by Travel Channel, Forbes and Huffington Post for a reason. Frightpasses are $40 per person. Hours of terror extend from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday-Saturday until Oct. 31.
Sea Witch Festival: Rehoboth Beach is home to one of the best Halloween festivals around, The Sea Witch Festival, which runs from Oct. 29-31. Costume parades, candy, live music are mixed in with a 5k race. Most events are free and located near or on the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk at 309 S. Boardwalk, Rehoboth Beach.
