Hundreds of seniors across Delaware received free dental care this spring thanks to a partnership between Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Delaware and United Concordia Dental.
The mobile dental clinics, held between April 22 and May 1, traveled to several locations including Dover, Lewes, Millsboro, New Castle, and Rehoboth Beach.
The initiative focused on Highmark Medicare Advantage members, offering essential services such as dental exams, x-rays, cleanings, and fluoride treatments—all at no cost.

“We are incredibly pleased with the positive response to these free dental clinics,” said Tom Fitzpatrick, president of Commercial Business for Highmark Health plans. “These events allowed us to directly address the oral health needs of our Medicare Advantage members and connect them with valuable resources for ongoing care.”
For seniors who required further treatment, the clinics also offered referrals to in-network dental providers.
Dr. Roosevelt Allen, Chief Dental Officer at United Concordia Dental, emphasized the broader health benefits of oral care.
“Taking good care of your teeth and gums can lead to better oral and overall health at every life stage,” said Roosevelt Allen, DDS, MAGD, ABGD, chief dental officer, United Concordia Dental. “That’s why we were pleased to partner with Highmark to bring these essential dental services to seniors in Delaware at no cost and help them be their healthiest.”
The initiative highlights the growing awareness of the link between oral health and overall well-being, particularly for aging populations who may face barriers to dental care.
200 patients in total were cared for.
