Eligible voters in Delaware have 18 days left to register to vote in the 2024 state primary election.
Wednesday, the Department of Elections published a reminder that those who are not yet registered to vote in Delaware and who wish to vote in the September 10 state primary election must register to vote on or before Saturday, Aug. 17 at 11:59 p.m. in order to vote.
While a bill in this year’s legislative session attempted to open the primaries to all voters, the law of Delaware remains that only voters registered with the Democratic and Republican parties can vote in their party’s primary election.
The last day for registered Delaware voters to change their political party affiliation already passed in May.
Eligible voters must meet all the following criteria:
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Be a resident of Delaware
- Be 18-years-old on or before the date of the next General Election, which is November 5
First Staters can register online here.
They can also register by downloading, printing, completing and signing a form from the Department of Elections website, which can be found here.
The application must be submitted to a Department of Elections Office.
