CSC President and CEO Rod Ward III will give the keynote speech at Jan. 13’s annual Delaware State Chamber dinner on Jan. 13.
The event, one of the best-attended business gatherings of the year, draws 1,100 politicians and business leaders together for a cocktail hour and then a dinner at the Chase Center on the Riverfront in Wilmington.
The evening will include the 75th presentation of the Josiah Marvel Cup award in honor of the memory of Josiah Marvel, who reorganized and was the first president of the modern-day State Chamber. It is tradition that the name of the recipient is kept secret until the night of the dinner.
“I’m so pleased to be addressing the 188th Annual Dinner of the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce, made even more special by the fact that I’ll be there to congratulate the 75th Marvel Cup winner—an award named after Josiah Ward who was the partner and co-founder of CSC along with my great grandfather, Christopher Ward,” Ward said in a press release. “Both of these men shared an entrepreneurial spirit that lives on today in CSC and in the companies that prosper in Delaware.”
He said he would be honored to share the story of CSC and how we take care of business for companies around the globe that rely on us to create the competitive edge that lets them perform at their best.
CSC history
As the world’s leading provider of business administration and compliance solutions, CSC powers every stage of the business life cycle.
With more than 8,500 people with capabilities in more than 140 jurisdictions, hundreds of thousands of organizations rely on CSC’s expertise, service and global capabilities as they face increasing complexity and regulation.
Privately owned, and with a 125-year track record, CSC consistently delivers market-leading expertise and exceptional service, driven by a fierce client spirit and unmatched global reach, the Chamber said in an email.
They are the business behind business, the chamber said.
Ward was elected president and chief executive officer of CSC in 2010. He previously had worked in manufacturing as president of the Speakman Company and vice president of Snap-On Inc.’s European Equipment division.
He worked for FMC Corp. in operations and for Credit Suisse as a precious metals trader.

Along with Governor John Carney, Rod serves as co-chair of the Delaware Prosperity Partnership, a public-private partnership for economic development. He also serves on the advisory board of both the Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance at the University of Delaware and Leadership Delaware.
One of CSC’s secrets of success, Ward said, is “we also take care of each other, as well as focus on leaving the communities where we live and work better off tomorrow than they are today.”
