Delaware’s flu season has been very mild this year.
The Delaware Division of Public Health said this week that only 2o cases of flu have been confirmed this season.
Normally by this time in flu season, which usually runs from fall through springs, the state would have confirmed thousands of cases, and thousands more would have the flu because only a few are confirmed.
Last year at this time, the state had recorded 5,047 cases of flu.
Health officials credit people following COVID-19 guidelines such as wearing masks, avoiding crowds and frequently washing their hands with stopping the spread of influenza.
One person had died from the flu this year, a Kent County man who had multiple underlying conditions.
