Rain, rain, rain and rain was what we saw last week. Four straight days of rainouts that rescheduled a lot of games this last week. There were a few games played over the weekend including our No. 1 team who finally saw the field.

No. 1 DMA finally got a game this week and picked up where they left off in their championship run last season. The bats were hot for the Seahawks who totalled 11 hits and scored 9 runs. Charlie Porter and Tyler Leech provided the power as Porter hit two home runs including a grandslam, while Leech added a triple and a homerun.

Cape, Sussex Central, and Saint Mark’s all are still undefeated. Sussex Tech, and Sanford each suffered losses last week. So we will have some changes in our top 10 from last week.

This week a lot of games that we should get in with the weather finally looking like springtime. We have some more top ten teams in action and a big top ten matchups that could shake up our top ten rankings. Now let’s take a look at weeks’ top ten rankings.

No. 1 Delaware Military Seahawks (DMA) (1-0) finally hit the field last week and made a splash. They defeated Conrad 9-3 to get their first win of the season. They scored 9 runs off of 11 hits while Hunter Dicarlantonio picked up his first varsity win on the mound. The Seahawks have three games this week and they hit the road for all of them. They head to Newark Charter Tuesday, Dover Thursday, and No. 6 William Penn on Saturday which is a top 10 matchup. This game will be streamed live on our channel as well.

No. 2 Cape Henlopen (6-0) two wins last week and another shutout. The Vikings defeated Dover and blanked Appoquinimink 10-0. Transfer Brad Marks got his third win for the Vikings. Cape will host all three games this week. They face Indian river on Tuesday, No. 3 Caravel in a top ten matchup, then face Conrad on Saturday.

No. 3 The Caravel Buccaneers (3-0) got a win last week over the Shipley School out of Pennsylvania. Timothy Tyler got his second win of the season. They will travel to No. 2 Cape Henlopen on Wednesday for a big top 5 matchup. Then on Saturday they travel down state to play Laurel. Wednesday’s matchup will be the first matchup of the top 5 teams. Can’t wait to see how this game plays out.

No. 4 Sussex Central Golden Knights (6-0) defeated Milford and Salesianum last week  making a statement with a 15-2 victory over the Sals. Joaquin Rodriguez got his third win of the season for the Golden Knights while the offense continued to stay hot. Central has two games this week and both of them are away. They travel to Lake Forest on Tuesday, then to Stephen Decatur (MD) for an out of state game.

No. 5 The Saint Mark’s Spartans (5-0) crushed the Appo Jaguars last week with a 16-0 victory. Then went on to beat Delmar 5-4 putting up 21 runs in last week’s games. That is why they jumped ahead of Sussex Tech this week. Right now their schedule shows them playing a doubleheader on Saturday which I am not sure is correct. They are playing at Archmere at noon then at home against Hodgson at 4pm. Right now that’s on their schedule, but I would check daily to see if that is how it works out.

No. 6 Sussex Tech Ravens (4-1) beat Smyrna last week, but lost to out of state opponent Queen Anne County out of Maryland. They lost by a score of 2-1 in a very close game to a tough out of state opponent which is why they only dropped one spot. Thai week they host Delmar on Tuesday, and another out of state opponent Kent Island (MD).

No. 7 William Penn Colonials (2-0) were idle last week as their only scheduled game was postponed due to rain. This week they host three games starting with Mt Pleasant on Tuesday, Newark Charter on Thursday and the big game No.1 DMA on Saturday at Noon which we will have live on our channel. This will be the biggest test of the season for the Colonials.

No. 8 Brandywine Bulldogs (4-0) had a big win last week over then No. 6 Sanford in a pitchers dual. Brandywine outlasted them as Matt McGill got his second of the season throwing a complete game against the Warriors. It was the first real test for the Bulldogs and they passed. This week they host Milford on Thursday then face Mt. Pleasant on Saturday at Frawley stadium with a 3pm start.

No. 9 The Sanford Warriors (4-1) suffered its first loss of the season to now No. 8 Brandywine Bulldogs. They did get a win over Tower Hill last week by a 5-1 score. The Warriors will face St Andrew’s on Tuesday then face Charter School of Wilmington on Thursday. St Andrew’s is 3-1 on the season with their only loss to Polytech. They will give the Warriors a contest.

No. 10 Delmar Wildcats (4-1) were 4-0 before suffering  a tough 1 run loss to No. 5 Saint Mark’s. They hung right there with the Spartans scoring back and forth before Saint Mark’s put up 2 runs in the top of the sixth to really put the game away. The Wildcats will travel on Tuesday to face the No. 6 Sussex Tech Ravens. Then they host Caesar Rodney on Thursday.

Well, this week’s forecast looked really nice last week, but now we are showing some showers towards the end of the week. The temperature will be nice, finally seeing 60’ and mid 70’s, but now we have to see how much rain we will get. Tuesday is the first game of the year at Frawley Stadium as Polytech and Woodbridge make the trek upstate to face off. We will be live streaming that game on our channel so tune in if you can’t make it to the stadium.
