WILMINGTON- On March 31, ChristianaCare hosted its inaugural “The Way We Care Awards” at the Gateway Conference Center at Wilmington Hospital, honoring 37 caregivers who have gone above and beyond to provide exceptional care to patients.
The awards ceremony recognized individuals who have been commended by patients for offering outstanding experiences. Caregivers from various roles, campuses, and care settings, including inpatient, outpatient, virtual, and home health, were celebrated for their commitment to making patients feel valued, respected, and well-informed.
Janice Nevin, M.D., MPH, President and CEO of ChristianaCare, addressed the honorees during the event, emphasizing the importance of recognizing those who consistently demonstrate exemplary care.

Hunter Tarburton (center), physician assistant in Emergency Medicine, was recognized for his responsiveness to patients. Congratulating him are Chief Clinical Officer Neil Jasani and Chief Experience Officer Wren Lester.
“Today is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate our caregivers who are providing an exceptional experience, as told to us by the patients they cared for,” Nevin said.

Winners were selected based on feedback from patient experience surveys completed after hospital stays or outpatient visits. These surveys provide ChristianaCare with valuable insights into where caregivers excel and help identify areas for improvement in patient care.
Wren Lester, Ph.D., Chief Experience Officer at ChristianaCare, highlighted the organization’s ongoing commitment to improving patient experiences across all care settings.
“Our goal is to improve patient experience on all our campuses and in all care settings,” Lester said.
The The Way We Care Awards ceremony honors dedicated caregivers and ChristianaCare’s ongoing efforts to enhance the relationships between caregivers and patients.
