Aunt Berta’s Brings Southern Comfort to Hockessin with Grand Opening
Aunt Berta’s fourth location, second in Delaware, promises great food and a service-oriented atmosphere.
Hockessin, DE – Locals and food enthusiasts in Hockessin are buzzing with excitement as Aunt Berta’s, the beloved purveyor of Southern comfort food, held their Grand Opening celebration and ribbon cutting on September 24th. The event drew a crowd eager to savor the restaurant’s signature dishes and experience its renowned hospitality.
The new restaurant, located in the heart of Hockessin, promises to be a welcome addition to the local culinary scene. Known for its delectable fried chicken, creamy macaroni and cheese, and flaky biscuits, Aunt Berta’s has built a reputation for delivering authentic Southern flavors with a touch of homemade warmth.
Alberta Ferebee, Aunt Berta herself, and co-owner and daughter Estella Gale were on hand to welcome their new neighbors.
“A customer came into our New Castle, Delaware location and told us ‘you have to come to Hockessin and bring that great food’,” said Gale. “So here we are and we couldn’t be more excited.”
The menu features all the classic Aunt Berta’s favorites, including customer favorite, Cajun turkey wings. Diners can expect generous portions, fresh ingredients, and the comforting flavors that have made Aunt Berta’s a household name. Ferebee shared that some of her favorites are the salads. “The salads are excellent because everything is homemade. We’re boiling the potatoes, we’re cutting the vegetables. It’s all homemade, nothing comes pre-packaged.”
The opening of Aunt Berta’s in Hockessin is expected to create new job opportunities for residents and further enrich the local dining landscape. “We came to Hockessin to provide great service and real home cooking, “ said Gale. “It’s a place where you can come in for a real ‘Sunday dinner’ any night of the week.”
