22nd Annual Delaware Down Syndrome Walk Marks New Chapter at Glasgow Park

The 22nd Annual Delaware Down Syndrome Walk & 5K to draw more than 1,000 participants to a new site!

NEWARK, Del. — The Down Syndrome Association of Delaware (DSADE) will host its 22nd Annual Delaware Down Syndrome Walk & 5K on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Glasgow Park, marking the event’s debut at its new location in Newark.

The celebration—expected to draw more than 1,000 participants from across the region—combines a timed 5K run, a 0.2-mile Awareness Loop, and a Family Fun Day filled with activities including inflatables, music, face painting, food and sweet treat vendors, and a photo booth.

This year’s event runs from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., featuring a Team Captain Set-Up Party at 8:30 a.m., the 5K start at 10:00 a.m., and the Awareness Loop at 11:30 a.m. The opening ceremony and 5K awards take place at 11:00 a.m.

The walk supports the DSADE’s mission to promote inclusion, provide resources, and enhance lifelong opportunities for individuals with Down syndrome. The 2025 fundraising goal is $100,000, which will directly benefit the organization’s programming and advocacy efforts for nearly 600 Delaware families.

“Every step taken at this event brings us closer to a more inclusive and supportive Delaware,” said Tara Lennon, DSADE event coordinator. “It’s a day for families, friends, and the community to celebrate individuals with Down syndrome and the unique contributions they bring to our world.”

Registration costs $5 for children, $15 for adults, and $30 for 5K runners; individuals with Down syndrome participate free of charge. To register or donate, visit charity.pledgeit.org/dsadewalk2025.
