Newark has temporarily closed its Payments and Utility Billings Division to the public, following a positive COVID-19 test result for one employee, the city announced Sunday.
This employee and all employees that may have been exposed are self-isolating and monitoring themselves for symptoms. During the closure, the first floor space occupied by the division will undergo a thorough sanitization.
Representatives from the division will be available by phone beginning at 1 p.m. today, and in-person services are planned to resume Nov. 9.
This week, residents can pay utility bills by phone, at newarkde.gov/payments or at the payment kiosk in the atrium of the Municipal Center, 220 S. Main St., Newark.
Residents are also encouraged to sign up for Customer Connect to monitor water and electric consumption, schedule custom alerts and enroll in electronic billing.
