The massive project to reconstruct the interchange of Route 141 and Interstate 95 is winding down, but it is still causing big effects on traffic at times.
Ramps
Two exits will close from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights to allow for bridge demolition. The closed ramps are Exit 5A of I-95 southbound to Route 141 southbound and Exit 3B of Route 141 northbound to I-95 southbound.
Detours going into Newport will be posted.

I-95 southbound lanes
Through Nov. 13, southbound I-95 lanes will continue to be closed on weekday nights, 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for bridge demolition. In addition, the slip lanes for southbound I-95 may be closed, which will require closing Ramp L (northbound SB SR 141 to southbound I-95) and Ramp K (southbound I-95 to southbound SR 141). The slip lane, Ramp K and Ramp L will reopen by 6 am each weekday morning.
Traffic normally using Ramp K (southbound I-95 to southbound Route 141) will take the ramp to northbound Route 141, take the ramp to Delaware Route 4, continue straight onto Marshall Street, turn left onto westbound Route 4 (Justis Street), turn left onto James Street, turn left onto eastbound Route 4 (Market Street), and take the ramp to southbound Route 141.
Traffic normally using Ramp L (northbound Route 141 to southbound I-95) will be sent left onto Commons Boulevard, continue onto Airport Road, right onto westbound Route 273, take ramp to northbound Route 1, take ramp to southbound I-95.
The Delaware Department of Transportation promises work on the state’s busiest interchange to be done by spring, with work on Route 141 closer to New Castle stretching into 2022.
