Kimberly Stock, an English and English learner teacher at McKean High School, was named Delaware’s 2021 Teacher of the Year.
Stock accepted her award with a teary, animated speech telling her students that they should be able to see themselves in their work and in the halls around them.
Stock was chosen from a field of 20 teachers nominated by their school districts or charter schools. She represented Red Clay Consolidated School District. Now, she will be Delaware’s nominee for National Teacher of the Year.
She’s been a teacher for 13 years, and previously worked as a middle school English teacher in Lincoln, Nebraska, a language arts tutor and writer, a GED language arts instructor for adult learners, and the manager of a community-based learning center where she helped to increase the center’s enrollment by over 100%.
