Two changes in roads will alter traffic for residents who use Del. 141 or Barley Mill Road.
The Department of Transportation announced Tuesday that due to the recent storms, trees need to be removed on Barley Mill Road between Brackenville Road and Mount Cuba Road.
The roadway will be closed Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day. Residents who live within the closure will have access to their homes.
Here are recommended detour routes:
Northbound: Motorists will take Brackenville Road to Old Wilmington Road onto Lancaster Pike to Centerville Road.
Southbound: Motorists will take Mount Cuba Road to Creek Road.
Detour signage will be posted for motorists.
The state said Monday that Exit 4A of Del. 141 southbound in Newport will close for a month for sandblasting and painting of a bridge.
The closure is scheduled to run 6 a.m. Sept. 2 until 6 p.m. Oct. 16, pending weather. It affects the exit to James Street between Lynam and Justis streets.
Signs will tell drivers to take Exit 4B and turn right onto North James Street.
Other nearby projects:
⢠Bridge 1-159 on James Street over the Christina River is being replaced, a project expected to run through 2022.
⢠Del. 141 is being improved from Interstate 95 to Jay Drive, including reconstructing the bridges over southbound I-95. The project also includes widening Del. 141 at Commons Boulevard to provide additional through lanes and a triple left turn from Commons Boulevard. Thatās through spring of 2022.
⢠Milling and overlay is underway on I-95 near Churchmans Marsh. The work in the southbound direction extends from I-495 to Del. 1 (skipping the section near Del. 141 that will be improved by a separate project). The work in the northbound direction extends from Del. 1 to Del. 141. The project will also widen the southbound I-95 ramp to Churchmans Road to two lanes and signalize that ramp connection at Churchmans Road. The project is expected to end this winter.
