Upcoming road work this week and into April will cause temporary lane closures on several major area arteries.
First up is the closure of lanes on Route 52/Kennett Pike this Tuesday, due to inspection of the bridge over Route 141/Centre Road. DelDOT expects first the northbound then the southbound lanes will be impacted from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, pending weather. All ramps will remain open during the inspection, but may have modified merge areas. The rain date for the work is Wednesday, April 1.
Another bridge inspection will cause lane closures on the Rockland Road bridge over the Brandywine on Wednesday, April 1. The right lane and sidewalk will be closed during the work on the span between Adams Dam Road and Rockland Falls. Closure will take place from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. The rain date is Thursday, April 2, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. DelDOT says flaggers will be on-site to direct motorists and pedestrians.
On Monday, April 13, DelDOT says a major construction project will begin that will last several months on Silverside Road. The project will reconstruct curb ramps and sidewalk areas in the vicinity of utility poles and driveway entrances to address ADA compliance along Silverside Road from Veale Road to Windybush Road.
Motorists can anticipate daytime lane and shoulder closures from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday along Silverside Road. Flaggers will be on-site to direct motorists. The construction is anticipated to be complete by mid-July, pending weather.
Variable message boards will be posted to notify motorists of lane and/or shoulder closures.
