Walmart to Hire 350 Employees in Delaware

Walmart is hiring 350 people in Delaware. This Walmart is located on Centerville Road in Wilmington.

In response to strong demand in stores, Walmart is hiring 150,000 new associates through the end of May, including more than 350 associates across Delaware, to work in its stores, clubs, and fulfillment/distribution centers.

Knowing many people are eager to get back to work, the nation’s massive retailer has also expedited its hiring process to get people working quickly.

Depending on location, distribution center employees start between $17 and $18 per hour. Walmart has a distribution center in Smyrna.

This morning the company released more details on additional incentives for those interested in working the company’s Supply Chain. Highlights include:

  • A temporary $2/hour pay increase for all hourly associates working in its e-commerce fulfillment centers, from now through Memorial Day.
  • Offering a $250 referral bonus to fulfillment center associates who refer a new hire. The newly hired associate also receives a $250 referral bonus.
  • Expedited hiring – a person can apply online, get hired and begin working in a fulfillment center or distribution center in as little as 24 hours. The company is offering full-time, part-time and temporary roles.

While Walmart does not have a fulfillment center in Delaware, some neighboring states do. The closest Walmart fulfillment center is across the river in Pedricktown, NJ.

As a reward for their hard work and dedication during this unprecedented health crisis, Walmart will provide more than $365 million in cash bonuses to hourly associates in the U.S.

Every hourly associate employed by the company as of March 1 will qualify, and it will payout on April 2.

In addition, the company will accelerate the next scheduled quarterly bonus for associates a month early. The early bonus payout will add up to $180 million nationwide, which is available only to employees working in fulfillment and distribution.

In addition to hiring across the state, Walmart continues to find ways to serve and support its customers, associates and communities during this unprecedented time. The latest information on how Walmart is responding to COVID-19 can be found here.
