A new drive-thru Starbucks in the Prices Corner area that’s been under construction for the better part of a year is finally set to open on February 14th.
The Seattle-based coffee chain’s latest location is at 2209 Farrand Drive on the southwest corner of Kirkwood Highway. It will replace another Starbucks that was next door at 3926 Kirkwood Hwy, which shares shopping center space with a MedExpress. All Starbucks employees working at that store will be transferring to the new location, which will employ a total of approximately 17 people.
The single-story store is bigger and brighter than its former location with windows along two sides of the building. The ordering counter is about twice as long and the barista bar is bedecked with the latest in coffee brewing technology and accessories, so fans of the dark caffeinated beverage will have many options whether they head inside or stay in their cars to order. A variety of seating arrangements will double the capacity of its nearby location.
Between February 10th and Valentine’s Day, visitors to the current Kirkwood Highway Starbucks will have to seek their coffee fix elsewhere because that location will close its doors to train staff and move product over to the new facility.
This is the latest change to the Farrand Drive shopping area, which also includes an ALDI grocery store that opened in May of 2018, and Planet Fitness, which opened in 2017. Those two replaced a Best Buy. The German-based ALDI, which sells most of its groceries under its own label, recently announced new study results from Kantar that indicate “ALDI is easier to navigate and a faster, more fun grocery retailer to shop than Walmart Supercenters.”
ALDI is a “bring your own bag” grocer.
