Just as the nice people perpetually fixing our roads give us some good news – an important exit ramp off Marsh Road at I-95 is opening – we get word of another closure – this time, at Harvey Road and I-95.
Let’s start with the pleasant holiday season news first. Drivers who regularly enter and exit Marsh Road to and from I-95 in north Wilmington will be pleased to know that on Sunday night DelDOT reopened both the northbound exit onto Marsh Road from I-95 as well as the southbound on-ramp to the highway. Carr Road has also been reopened between Rockwood Business Park and Marsh Road to all traffic.
These closures have been in place from earlier this year as part of the agency’s major overhaul of the interchange.
Drivers will find a new traffic pattern when exiting the highway northbound onto Marsh Road, including a new traffic signal at Carr Road. Left turn movements from Marsh Road to Carr Road and left turns to I-95 southbound will not be permitted. Detours will remain in place for the duration of the construction project in 2020.
DelDOT advised motorists to use caution in the area as construction is still on-going. The transportation agency also announced detours for traffic heading southbound on I-95 from Marsh Road:
– Traffic traveling north on Marsh Road to I-95 southbound will make a left onto Washington Street, make a right onto US 202/Concord Pike to I-95 southbound.
– Traffic traveling north on Marsh Road that misses the detour, can proceed north onto Marsh Road, make a left onto Wilson Road, make a left onto Foulk Road, make a left onto US 202/Concord Pike and continue onto I-95 southbound.
Detour signage will be posted for motorists.
Now, the bad news: milling and paving work is going to require the daytime closure of the Naamans Road and Harvey Road on-ramps to I-95 southbound several days this week.
The Naamans Road ramp onto I-95 southbound will be closed 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 17 and Thursday, December 19.
The Harvey Road on-ramp to I-95 southbound will close 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18 and Friday, December 20.
Detour Routes for Naamans Road On-Ramp to I-95 Southbound:
Motorists that are eastbound on Naamans Road will be directed to continue traveling east to Philadelphia Pike turning left onto Philadelphia Pike then right onto Harvey Road to the on-ramp to I-95 southbound.
Motorists that are westbound on Naamans Road will be directed to turn left onto Carpenters Station Road southbound, then left on Darley Road eastbound, then right onto Philadelphia Pike southbound, then right onto Harvey Road to the on-ramp to I-95 southbound.
Harvey Road On-Ramp to I-95 Southbound Detour Route:
Motorists will be directed to travel east on Harvey Road and then turn left onto Philadelphia Pike northbound, then left onto Naamans Road westbound to the on-ramp to I-95 southbound.
Detour routes will be posted for motorists.
