Drivers planning to travel I-95 through Wilmington this weekend may want to consider alternative routes.
DelDOT says lane and ramp closures on and around the Brandywine River Bridge will be in effect from 6:00 pm Saturday, December 14 through all day Sunday into early Monday morning December 16. Road work
Significant portions of I-95 north and southbound will be impacted for road repair, including double lane closures in both directions over the aging bridge resulting in single-lane traffic in each direction. DelDOT says the work is focused on the center lane both north and southbound.
The entire concrete surface of the bridge deck will be replaced during the upcoming I-95 Corridor Rehabilitation Project slated to begin in March 2021, an impending traffic nightmare for Delaware drivers.
Ramps that will be closed during this weekend’s work include I-95 northbound on-ramp at North Adams Street and I-95 southbound off-ramp at exit 7B/Delaware Avenue, Wilmington. Suggested detour routes are below.
