Holiday Traffic Alert: Foulk Road Delays, Free Parking Downtown

Shopping for the holidays made easy – free parking weekdays after 12 Noon in downtown Wilmington through December

Foulk Road Construction

DelDOT announced that roadwork would be getting underway on Foulk Road in North Wilmington on December 2, running for at least three weeks.  The agency said a contractor will be “grinding the road surface” on Foulk Road in both directions from Silverside Road to the state line.

Intermittent lane closures and shifts are expected throughout the month as the work is completed, beginning on weekdays at 7:00 am each day and ending 7:00 pm.
Free Parking Downtown

Visitors to downtown Wilmington will once again get an early Christmas present from the city, as shoppers, diners and others won’t have to feed the meter when they park in the Downtown Business District.  The holiday season parking policy will be in place from Friday, November 29 through Thursday, January 2, 2020.

The Downtown Business District is defined as the area bounded by 2nd Street to 12th Street, and by French Street to Washington Street.  Free holiday parking will also be available in the Riverfront Business District. Official holidays such as Christmas Day (December 25) remain free all day. The city says the regular two-hour parking limit will remain in effect in all places.
