For the first time, Target is introducing Drive Up service to Delaware, offering greater convenience to the chain’s loyal shoppers – a move triggered by an increasingly competitive and lightning-fast retail sector.
The huge retailer announced this week that all three Delaware locations (Wilmington, Dover and Newark) will offer the service free of charge for customers using the Target app.
Purchases of everything from non-perishable groceries, clothing, sunscreen and wedding gifts can be made in advance, and customers will receive notifications by email and text message once their order is ready for pickup.
An alternate pickup person can also be selected, and they will also receive email and text notifications.
Goods will be ready “often within an hour,” according to the retailer.
Target is configuring their Delaware stores to include bright red pylons and designated pick-up lanes, where a store employee will load up their car, truck or bicycle in less than 2 minutes.

How long do I have to pick up?
Orders are held at your chosen store for seven days. We’ll charge your method of payment when your order has been picked and placed on hold for you.
What happens if I don’t pick up my order?
Your order will be held for 7 days. If you’re unable to pick up your order, we’ll cancel your order and issue a refund.
You can extend your pick up window by 1 day by signing into your Target.com account or by visiting your order details page. You must do this before the end of the initial pickup window.
Which items are eligible for Drive Up?
Most items are eligible and will be noted as an option on the product detail page, in the cart and at checkout. Unfortunately, we cannot offer Drive Up for perishable food, flowers, adult beverages and other select items at this time.
What happens if the store can’t fulfill an item?
We’ll send an email to let you know as soon as possible. You can check if it’s in stock at another store near you, with the option to get free shipping for eligible items.
