Office Hours Kennett: New Forum for Business Insights and Best Practices

Office Hours Kennett host some of their summer series events at The Creamery in Kennett Square

A stone’s throw away in the Kennett Square area, Kennett Township is putting out a welcome sign for entrepreneurs new and old and businesses large and small. The brainchild of some forward-thinking Township officials, Kennett Township has taken “business friendly” to a new level in the creation of a speaker series called Office Hours Kennett.

Office Hours Kennett is a series of intimate talks by local professionals covering a range of information from Social Media 101 to Legal Protections for Small Businesses and the Top 30 Accounting Applications for successful business migration. The range of topics is endless as is the enthusiasm and willingness of some of the best and savviest presenters to participate.

Office Hours Kennett began in the summer of 2017 with the idea of creating a hyper-local informational series for entrepreneurs and small businesses and to create networking opportunities between attendees as well as the presenters. Presenters are encouraged to speak in terms of “real life” not academic “theoreticals.”  The result has been a successful marriage of knowledge meets need with good conversation and coffee by Philter Coffee of Kennett Square thrown in for good measure.

Office Hours Kennett is typically offered in series of four special presentations running in the morning hours from 8am until 9:30am at some of the areas fun and/or iconic venues.

Bumpers & Company addressed “Accounting Best Practices in a Changing Landscape” in February

The first 2017 summer series was offered at The Creamery in Kennett Square mixing business conversation with the “steam punk” vibe of an old Sealtest dairy built in the 19thcentury.  The topics of Social Media 101, Law and Essential Banking Services were tackled in this series block.

The current 2018 Winter/Spring Series is being offered at the bustling Market at Liberty Place located on State Street in Kennett Square. The topics of Top 30 Accounting Applications and Expanding Your Marketing Reach were covered. The series closes on Thursday, April 19thwith “Quick Question!” – an open forum Q & A session where attendees can ask this season’s presenters questions about the topics most of interest to them.

The April 19th panel participants will be Doug Kook of Bumpers & Company accounting firm, representatives from the law firm of MacElree Harvey, LLC, Christy Fleming of Towns Square Delaware and LeeAnn Riloff of LCH of Kennett Square.  Quick Question is always a lively session of information and conversation where the audience supplies the topics and the experts supply the answers.

When there is a special topic that just has to be covered but lends itself to a more casual vibe, Kennett Township, offers Office Hours After Hours – the ultimate relaxed way to cover a topic of interest after traditional working hours, mingle with interesting people and enjoy an adult beverage of your choice in one of Kennett’s special after work hours venues.

Office Hours After Hours are “special” events covering unique and timely topics. This season Bumpers & Company covered “The New Tax Code – 101” to an overflow crowd at Giordanos Bar & Grill in Kennett Township.
