The third annual Beau Biden Trail Run drew another robust, hearty throng of runners this year, celebrating Beau’s spirit and love of running while raising funds for a cause dear to the late attorney general’s heart.
Biden, who died in 2015 of a brain tumor, loved sports and the outdoors and would occasionally run the beautiful trails at Granogue Estate, an iconic du Pont estate and the site of this year’s race.
More than 600 runners including members of the Biden family hit the trails on March 17th, participating in either the 5k or 10k and helping raise $20,000 for the Beau Biden Foundation for the Protection of Children.
“Our family loves Granogue. This place has special meaning to us,” said Beau’s brother Hunter, who made a few remarks after the race, reminding participants that Beau fought to protect the vulnerable. He expressed how appreciative he and his family are that many supporters come out year after year to run for child protection.
