TSD: Delaware’s best take on events, community and local life

Guests were invited for cocktails, but the Greenville Country Club looked like a festive birthday party on April 7th with hundreds of red balloons floating in every room. This year annual Red Balloon fundraiser for Cancer Support Community of Delaware was a Cocktails for a Cause event, and several of the 150 guests seemed to enjoy celebrating the theme, with many donning a bright red tie or pretty red dress.

CSCDE transformed what used to be a very successful Red Balloon Brunch into an evening event, featuring cocktails, heavy hors d’oeuvres, silent and live auctions and live music. U.S. Senator Chris Coons stopped by to show support.

Following the namesake tradition, guests paid tribute to loved ones and friends affected by cancer by sponsoring a red balloon in their honor and memory. The event was a truly special and personal experience for all. The live auction was hosted by professional auctioneer, Jeff Hammond and featured jewelry, a chef’s dinner for 8 people, and a private golf outing at Fieldstone. All proceeds benefit programs at Cancer Support Community Delaware.

CSCDE is a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to providing emotional support services to cancer patients, caregivers and their families. Their no-cost services include support groups, mind/body stress reduction classes and educational workshops.
