TSD: Delaware’s best take on events, community and local life

The Wilmington community of Wawaset Park was filled with festive holiday cheer on December 3rd, as the 6th annual Holiday Market got underway. On a crisp winter’s day, young families and local neighbors flocked to the holiday gift show, and 11th Street was once again a thriving scene filled with vendors selling handmade crafts, special holiday cards, jewelry, soaps, knitted winter caps, olive oil, and other Christmas goodies.

Some of the prettiest items were the holiday greens and abundant wreaths with attractive red bows by Petals Flowers and Fine Gifts and holiday tabletop decor and handsome ornaments from Kurtz Collection and Flowers by Yukie. And of course each year Christmas trees are for sale at the Wawaset Holiday Market.

The Fashionista truck was there selling winter apparel, and Maiale Cured Meats was on hand with a hot griddle serving up homemade sausages and hot dogs for kids. Wawaset neighbor Meredith Racape again offered homemade crepes made on the spot filled with strawberries and whipped cream, but shoppers had to get there early for those!

Holiday Market organizer Jen Steiner even made 25 whiskey cakes in small and large sizes. “I just wanted to do my part to make sure people could buy a little bit of everything at the show this year,” she said.
