Mothers of runners and other friends of Girls on the Run Delaware turned out in style on October 20th at the Delaware Museum of Natural History for the third annual LUNAFEST.
Each year attendance at the film festival has grown, and many guests enjoyed a “girls nite out” with friends in support of the 10th anniversary of the Delaware running organization. The all-women catering company Bixby’s offered lots of tasty bites, and short films were shared throughout the evening in the special viewing rooms at the DMNH.
Established by LUNA, the makers of nutrition bars for women, the LUNAFEST film festival spotlights the work of a diverse array of talented women filmmakers with intelligent, funny and thought-provoking themes.
Girls on the Run Delaware adopted the LUNAFEST fundraising opportunity because it dovetails beautifully with their mission – to promote healthy lifestyles as well as confidence and strong character among young teens through running.
“At our races, every girl wears the #1 because every girl in our program is a winner,” said Girls on the Run Executive Director Kim Chitty. “We believe that every girl can embrace who she is, define who she wants to be, rise to any challenge, and change the world.”
