Four bipartisan candidates running in local and statewide elections enjoyed the opportunity to impress voters last week at a special breakfast hosted by the Wilmington Women in Business. About 30 women attended the September 8th political panel discussion at Buckley’s Tavern, which kicked off WWB’s 2016-2017 season.
Moderated by Priscilla Rakestraw, “Caffeine and Campaigns” featured four candidates:
The discussion centered around issues like improving the quality of life in our communities, negativity in campaigns, challenges women face in politics, and ways to bring people together to get things done in government. While the candidates come from different backgrounds and political affiliations, many of the challenges they encounter and the goals they have if elected were generally the same: remain positive, stay on message, service to the community, and kindness to others.
WWB meets regularly to provide a forum for personal and professional development to empower women, promote growth as leaders, make valuable connections, and to develop strategies to lead balanced lives. For more information click here.
