Summer Smiles at Rockwood Ice Cream Festival

Many came for the ice cream, but this year’s Rockwood Ice Cream Festival also featured the enough delicious food, games, shopping, and music to make it an all-day event. The biggest hit with teens on Snapchat and Instagram was the sushi burrito – a west coast phenomenon that combines the best of both foods in a way that one festival-goer described as “the best thing I ever ate.”

One of Delaware’s favorite summer traditions, the festival was held on the grounds of historic Rockwood Park where visitors enjoyed sweet confections from local vendors including Bassett’s Ice Cream, Battiato Farms Strawberry Milkshakes, Caffe Gelato, HyPoint Farms, Little Baby’s, Nellie’s Waffles and Ice Cream, Sweet Lucy’s, The Ice Cream Shoppe, Thyme to Eat, and UDairy Creamery. Little ones were delighted by face-painting and activities in the Children’s Zone, while older guests made their way to local favorites like Home Grown Cafe, Ulysses American Gastro Pub, and Zaikka Indian Grille.

The family-friendly atmosphere also included a wide array of pets. And for families looking for a new addition to their fold, representatives from Faithful Friends were on hand with two adorable, adoptable dogs.
