After months of training, 500 Special Olympics Delaware athletes and Unified Partners (peers without intellectual disability) showcased their bowling talent at the SODE State Bowling Tournament. Gold, silver and bronze medals were awarded to several individuals and teams at the annual fundraiser, which was held on January 9th at locations throughout the state. Proud parents, brothers and sisters enjoyed themselves too, as they cheered on athletes and their teams. Photos in this story are from the Milford competition.

“Bowling is one of our most popular sports,” said Gary Cimaglia, SODE senior director of sports. “One of the neatest things about our athletes participating in bowling is that they can then transfer what they learn to other bowling opportunities outside of Special Olympics when they are invited by friends and family.”
