First Lady Carla Markell, Ashley Biden, Garry Lyons and Paul Pantano all took their turns behind the bar last Thursday at the BBC in Greenville to help raise funds for a new Delaware initiative: Youth Overcoming Obstacles (YOO). In all, 18 members of the community honed their guest serving skills at the fundraiser, which raised more than $7,000 for YOO, which supports teens with records re-enter society. Other guest bartenders included Mike Monagle, Chandlee Kuhn, Dan Kegelman, Toni Toomey, Jack McDonough, Nancy Dietz, John Selvage, Connie Montana, Kevin O’Connell, Suzanne Noval, Teresa Maroni, Katie Quill, Sue Kampert and Christy Fleming.

Teens sometimes with even minor convictions ultimately face the daunting and challenging prospect of re-entering society without the means to do so. Working in concert with the Division of Youth and Rehabilitative Services, Youth Overcoming Obstacles helps provide financial support to kids so they can purchase things like cleats for sports teams, books and pencils for school, cooking lessons at a culinary school, or fees for a football camp.
